In 2003, Screamin' Ski Tours came back to the Victorian alps and skied Mt Hotham. With Mt Hotham being the 'home mountain' of both Wayne and Simon (and many of the other SST die-hards), it was fun all round, especially the white-out day. Of particular fun was the invention of "tree skiing" out past the Watershed run in The Orchard area. A few broken tree branches later .... It was all good.
Hotham also allowed us to use our complete knowledge of the mountain. No, not the ski runs ... the BARS! We pretty much visited every single night spot on the mountain. Wayne managed to sweet-talk a barmaid into giving him a token for 50% off drinks for the rest of the season. We are all still wondering what he really had to do to get that token ...
The 2003 season lead to the best discovery of all. The Gravbrot Lodge in the Devenport Village. Although not a true ski-in, ski-out lodge it does boast the only lodge to have a full time cook. So your $90 a night accom included all three meals and they were all cooked for you! How awesome is that? If you want to go to Hotham - you cant go past Gravbrot. Best value in Australia, bar none.
